Hi, my name is Rhoda. I’m the founder of Butter and Oil, a natural soap company. I became health-conscious after being diagnosed with LUPUS SLE in 2017—an autoimmune disease with no cure, but one that can be managed. My skin became highly photosensitive; both natural and artificial light, as well as chemicals in skincare products, could trigger or worsen my symptoms. For years, I tried all kinds of soaps—commercial brands and even those from natural stores—but none worked for me. That’s what led me to research and eventually learn how to make my own soap, free from synthetic ingredients. It wasn’t an easy journey—soap-making is truly a science—but after years of trial and use, I noticed a significant change. I stopped experiencing flare-ups like itching, dryness, or rashes. Now, I’ve decided to share my handcrafted soap with others. I’m a living testimony, and I’m confident that my soap is pure and natural. I’d love to share it with people who have similar skin sensitivities—or anyone who simply loves natural products.

AllOur Soap CollectionNote:
Due to the nature of our handcrafted process, the size of each soap bar may vary slightly. Bars typically weigh between 4.0 and 4.4 oz, depending on the specific ingredients used in each batch.
Allergy Disclaimer:
Please read the ingredient list carefully before use, especially if you or a family member has known allergies. Each bar of soap contains natural ingredients that may cause sensitivities in some individuals. If irritation occurs, discontinue use immediately.Tips:
Why Natural Soaps Are Softer
Natural soaps tend to be softer than commercial alternatives due to the ingredients and methods used in their creation. During the cold process soap-making method, glycerin—a natural humectant that attracts and retains moisture—is retained, making the soap more moisturizing but also softer in texture.
Additionally, natural soaps are typically made with plant-based oils and butters, which are softer than the synthetic hardening agents often found in mass-produced commercial soaps. While this results in a bar that may feel more delicate, it also means you're using a soap that's gentler and more nourishing for your skin.
To extend the life of your natural soap, we recommend storing it in a well-drained soap dish and allowing it to dry between uses.
Premium Ingredients
We use only high-quality oils, butters, and essential oils in our soap-making process. Our base oils include extra virgin olive oil, organic cold-pressed coconut oil, avocado oil, grass-fed beef tallow, cold-pressed sweet almond oil, and organic cold-pressed castor oil. For butters, we use unrefined shea butter, cocoa butter, and mango butter. We use only essential oils—never synthetic fragrance oils. We intentionally avoid palm oil, cottonseed oil, and soybean oil, which are commonly used by other soap makers to produce cheaper, harder bars. Our guiding principle is simple: Quality over Quantity.
